Located on the edge of the Gironde estuary, on alluvial gravel ridges, the terroir of Ch\u00e2teau Talbot is exceptional. The cru bears the name of Constable John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury. In 1855, in the classification of the crus of the M\u00e9doc and Graves, Ch\u00e2teau Talbot was promoted to quatri\u00e8me Grand Cru Class\u00e9 of Saint-Julien. The estate was acquired in 1918 by the Cordier family. Today, the estate is run by an experienced team, with Jean-Michel Laporte as general manager, Damien Hostein in charge of the vineyard and Jean-Max Drouilhet in charge of wine production.<br \/>\nThe vineyard lies on deep, free-draining gravel, with a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Petit Verdot. The wines are renowned for their elegance, velvety texture and silky tannins. The large cellar, completed in 2013, allows precise ageing of the wines, for up to 16 months in barrels, under perfectly controlled conditions. Ch\u00e2teau Talbot stands out for its classic and balanced style, with a beautiful structure, great finesse and remarkable ageing potential. Conn\u00e9table de Talbot, the second wine of Ch\u00e2teau Talbot, is one of the very first second wines of the M\u00e9doc. Created in the 1970s, it has benefited over the years from all the care given to the vineyard and from increasingly rigorous selection.
