Its name, derived from an old expression evoking how hard the land was to work, recalls the particularly demanding nature of its soils. The estate was acquired in 1953 by \u00c9tablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix. The vineyard covers 7.2 hectares. It combines gravel lying on deep black clay, above a ferruginous layer known as iron pan (crasse de fer). This succession of textures and depths gives the terroir a strongly distinctive character. Ch\u00e2teau Trotanoy delivers a dense, concentrated expression of Pomerol, characterised by a deep tannic architecture and great persistence.
