A MAJOR PLAYER ON THE PLACE DE BORDEAUX SINCE 1992

OUR STORY

The Chartrons district of Bordeaux takes its name from the Carthusian monks who settled in the region in 1377. These monks founded a charterhouse (a Carthusian monastery) on the outskirts of the city, and their presence gave this district north of Bordeaux its identity. By the 17th century, the Chartrons had become a major centre of the wine trade. Its merchants structured the wine business and developed the district into an essential economic and cultural hub of Bordeaux. In the 18th century, the wine trade enjoyed great prosperity, cementing Bordeaux’s reputation as the world capital of wine.

Chai des Chartreux The House

Founded in 1992 by Sébastien Duvignac, Chai des Chartreux draws its essence from the historic Chartrons district, the emblematic birthplace of the Bordeaux wine trade. In a world of excellence where tradition and exclusivity reign supreme, earning a place on the Place de Bordeaux was a considerable challenge. Driven by a bold vision and a deep respect for the values of this exceptional milieu, Sébastien Duvignac succeeded in bringing the House into this prestigious circle, making it an essential reference for discerning wine lovers and collectors of Grands Crus around the world. This reputation has been built on solid foundations and exemplary financial management. Founded by a visionary enthusiast, the company now belongs to the SAS Réginald Investissement group, itself owned by the company’s founder. With share capital of €3,963,400, the group reflects remarkable financial stability, offering the most discerning connoisseurs a buying experience that combines trust, excellence and expertise.
