“Juicy red with dark berry, chocolate, hazelnut, walnut and berry. Full and rather chunky. It’s a little old-school, but impressive. Needs time to soften and relax. Try after 2026.”
The Estate
A prominent figure from Pomerol who passed away in 2013, Catherine Péré-Vergé, heiress to the Arques crystal factories, operated three Pomerol estates that she brought to the top: Montviel, acquired in 1985, Le Gay, well located on the Pomerol plateau, and the small-scale cru (1.68 ha) La Violette, complemented by La Gravière in Lalande. Today, these estates are run by her son Henri Parent.
