Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“Tobacco, black currants, graphite and cigar box. The palate is medium-bodied, with restrained, delineated fruit and precise, focused tannins. Tight and elegant. Needs time. Better in 2028.”
In 1956 Marc Perrin, with the help of his son, decided to expand the vineyard. This is how the wine estate grew from 45 hectares in 1970 to 70 hectares in 1980, reaching almost 95 hectares today. It is Christine, Eric and Philibert Perrin who have taken up the torch, following in the footsteps of their father Antony. The terroir of Château Carbonnieux is remarkable for the diversity of its soils. Château Carbonnieux Blanc, Grand Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan: in their youth, the whites captivate with their purity and aromatic intensity. As they age, candied notes appear, allowing for very diverse food and wine pairings. Château Carbonnieux red, Grand Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan: the reds are in the Bordeaux tradition. Always harmonious, with balanced tannins and precise fruit.
