Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“This has blueberries, dark chocolate, lavender and hints of sage on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm and silky tannins and a chalky finish. Crunchy. Delicious now, but drink or hold.”
Acquired in the late 1990s by Stephan von Neipperg, Château d’Aiguilhe now stands as one of the leading references in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The estate covers approximately 140 hectares, of which nearly 90 hectares are dedicated to vineyards. The soils are predominantly composed of clays and limestone, with a structure that allows for good natural drainage. This type of terroir promotes deep root development of the vines and ensures ideal water regulation, even in the most contrasting years. The main grape variety is Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, a typical Right Bank blend that produces wines that are both generous and structured. The wines from Château d’Aiguilhe stand out for their balance between power and freshness. They have a beautiful density on the palate, supported by a structured and elegant texture.
