Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“Aromas of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, lead pencil and flint, with some tar. Medium-bodied, showing round, fine tannins that deliver a creamy texture and a long, succulent finish. Great purity of fruit. Lightly chewy at the end. A blend of 92% cabernet sauvignon and 8% merlot. Needs three or four years to come around. Drink or hold.”
It was in the 14th century that the Durfort de Duras family settled here, later giving its name to Château Durfort-Vivens. In 1824, the Vicomte de Vivens added his name to the château. The manual work carried out in the vineyard gives this Grand Cru all the richness and complexity that characterise it. In its approach of preserving and respecting the soil and subsoil, Château Durfort-Vivens stands out as an exceptional terroir. The conservation of the terroir and the perfect harmony between nature and man promise nobility to this wine.
