Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“This is wonderful and perhaps the best La Lagune since 1982. Full body, yet the texture is amazing giving it a plush, silky texture that makes it formed and beautiful. Thick and melting in the mouth. Lots of forest floor, tar and black currant character. Very persistent finish. Energy. From organically grown grapes.”
In 1525, the “Village de La Lagune” was built. The chartreuse (manor house) was built between 1730 and 1734. Château La Lagune entered the very exclusive circle of Grands Crus Classés in 1855. The famous geologist René Pijassou regarded the estate as the model of the Médoc “island”. Its soils of light gravel and silica help to give the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot their grace, balance and finesse alike, characteristic of the wines produced by Caroline Frey, owner with her family since 2000.
