“A focused and savory red with sleek and tight tannins. Very precise. Medium-bodied with fresh herbs, currants, blackberries and oyster shells. Stones and dried flowers, too. Fine finish. Tannins are round and complete. Already approachable. From biodynamically grown grapes. Better after 2025.”
The Estate
In 1525, the “Village de La Lagune” was built. The chartreuse (manor house) was built between 1730 and 1734. Château La Lagune entered the very exclusive circle of Grands Crus Classés in 1855. The famous geologist René Pijassou regarded the estate as the model of the Médoc “island”. Its soils of light gravel and silica help to give the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot their grace, balance and finesse alike, characteristic of the wines produced by Caroline Frey, owner with her family since 2000.
