Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“A strong effort that features 40% Cabernet France, the 2020 La Tour Figeac derives from vineyards bordering Figeac where the latter's vein of clay soils peters out. Offering up aromas of dark berries, orange rind, peonies and vine smoke, it's medium to full-bodied, with powdery tannins and a sapid, succulent core of fruit. It will appeal to readers who gravitate toward Cabernet Franc.”
Nestled on the border of Pomerol and an immediate neighbour of Cheval Blanc, Château La Tour Figeac benefits from an exceptional terroir of sandy gravel and sand over clay, which lends its wines a rare elegance and remarkable aromatic intensity. Owned by the Rettenmaier family since 1973 and farmed organically for more than twenty years, La Tour Figeac is now established as an essential reference among the Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion.
