Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“A very fresh and precise white with pretty herb notes, lemon grass, lemon zest and jasmine. Flint and hints of white pepper, too. Medium-bodied with a bright, tight palate. 51% sauvignon blanc and 49% semillon. Drink or hold.”
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, owned by Silvio Denz, offers with its Grand Vin Sec a rare, small-production expression of white Bordeaux. The 2021 vintage comes from a vineyard of just 2.61 hectares and an almost equal blend of 51% Sauvignon Blanc and 49% Sémillon. Production, limited to just 3,600 bottles, underlines the rarity of this cuvée. The Grand Vin Sec stands out for its spectacular bottle, a true signature of Lafaurie-Peyraguey. Each bottle bears “Femme et Raisins” engraved in the glass, a work created by René Lalique in 1928. Through this finely sculpted decoration, Silvio Denz brings together two worlds dear to him: the art of René Lalique and the art of wine. The bottle thus becomes a true work of art, instantly recognisable, in which the elegance of Maison Lalique accompanies that of a great white Bordeaux.
