Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“A classic Leoville Las Cases with blackcurrants, blackberries, stone, graphite and lavender aromas that follow through to a medium body with firm and refined tannins and a juicy finish. Plenty of subtle flavor at the end. Racy tannins. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 15% cabernet franc and 5% merlot. Already very integrated and attractive but will be even better in three or four years.”
Domaine de Léoville, one of the oldest vineyards in the Médoc. The present-day terroir of the Grand Vin dates back to the 17th century. The gateway, emblem of the Estate, opens onto a clos of around 55 ha enclosed by a stone wall, which marks out its terroir and stretches from the village of Saint-Julien to Château Latour. It is within this clos that the Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases is produced. Since the end of the 19th century, Léoville las Cases has been run by the same family, currently represented by Mr Jean-Hubert Delon, the sole owner.
