Critics’ scores and tasting notes

Robert Parker Wine AdvocateRP 97

“Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Pichon-Longueville Baron is enticingly scented of chocolate-covered cherries, crushed red currants and mulberries with touches of baking spices, potpourri and bay leaves plus a hint of fallen leaves. Sumptuously elegant, refreshing and medium-bodied with gorgeous, expressive, perfumed red fruits and very fine, very firm tannins, it has a persistent, perfumed finish. Its remarkable intensity, freshness and very firm frame suggest a long-lived Pichon Baron, which should cellar gracefully for 30+ years.”

The Estate

Near the Gironde estuary, Château Pichon Baron covers 73 hectares of vines. The vineyard is made up of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Sémillon. A majestic 17th-century estate, surrounded by a reflecting pool, it ranks among the greatest. Generation after generation has pursued the same goal: to uphold the tradition of the terroir and take the château to the very top. The commitment has been kept; the fruit of an exceptional terroir, Château Pichon Baron is now among the greatest vineyards. Its wines seduce with their elegance, their power and their ability to age.
