Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“Really delicious already with plums and dark berries, as well as crushed stone and some fresh herbs. It's medium-bodied with round tannins. Very drinkable 2022. Drink or hold.”
Located in Martillac, within the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Clos Marsalette is the result of a partnership between Count Stephan von Neipperg and Didier Miqueu. This human-scale estate takes a demanding approach aimed at expressing the richness of the Graves terroirs with precision. The vineyard lies on fine gravel ridges formed by ancient alluvial deposits of the Garonne. These free-draining soils favour slow, even ripening of the grapes. The estate covers approximately 12 hectares of red varieties and just over one hectare of white. The vines, with an average age of approximately 20 years, are carefully tended to preserve the expression of the terroir. The red wines are based on a blend dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by a touch of Cabernet Franc. The wines are vinified in temperature-controlled wooden and concrete vats, allowing precise extraction. They are then aged in barrels for 15 to 18 months, with a proportion of new oak. The wines of Clos Marsalette stand out for their balance and finesse. Offering pure fruit and an elegant structure.
