Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, the 2025 Duhart-Milon is a lovely classic in the making, offering up notes of wild blueberries, cassis, rose petals and orange zest, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, pure and polished palate that's lively, harmonious and suave. It checks in at a modest 12.5% alcohol.”
Château Duhart-Milon is located in Pauillac, in the immediate vicinity of Château Lafite Rothschild. The estate was acquired in 1962 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite. Tradition tells of a certain “Sieur Duhart”, a former corsair of Louis XV who settled in Pauillac, whose house is said to have inspired the identity of the estate. The 1855 classification places Château Duhart-Milon among the 4èmes Grands Crus Classés of Pauillac. The vineyard is located in the north of the appellation. It covers approximately 76 hectares in a single block on the Milon slope, continuing on from the plateau of the Carruades de Lafite. The soils are composed of sandy gravel from Quaternary deposits, combined with varying proportions of sand and clay. Some sectors have a higher clay content, contributing to the diversity of the vineyard. The grape varieties are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot. Work in the vineyard pays close attention to natural balances and to the characteristics of each plot. The vineyard benefits from the influence of the Gironde estuary, which contributes to the formation and evolution of the soils. Château Duhart-Milon draws on know-how passed down through the generations, with constant attention paid to the quality of the grapes and the expression of the terroir.
