“This is structured, medium- to full-bodied and chewy, with balanced dark fruit that’s grainy but appealing. Incisive and generous, with pretty and subtle al dente currants. A blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon and 33% merlot.”
The Estate
Owned from the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided in two, giving Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vineyard and the winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm since 2001 of this 35-hectare cru, close to Batailley, which is also owned by the Castéja family.
