“Layered and refined, with aromas of minerals, currants, cedar, cherries and subtle smoky toast. Juicy, firm and polished, with chalky tannins. Really balanced, with a medium to full body and a very long, poised, nicely vertical finish. Better in two to three years.”
The Estate
In 1525, the “Village de La Lagune” was built. The chartreuse (manor house) was built between 1730 and 1734. Château La Lagune entered the very exclusive circle of Grands Crus Classés in 1855. The famous geologist René Pijassou regarded the estate as the model of the Médoc “island”. Its soils of light gravel and silica help to give the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot their grace, balance and finesse alike, characteristic of the wines produced by Caroline Frey, owner with her family since 2000.
