Château Lagrange 2025

Critics’ scores and tasting notes

Robert Parker Wine AdvocateRP 94-96

“The 2025 Lagrange shows excellent potential, offering up notes of cassis, dark berries and violets, framed by a subtle touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and dense, with a concentrated core of fruit, sweet tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, checking in at 13.6% alcohol. Representing half the estate's production, its mid-palate depth and amplitude reflect the decision to harvest the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon late, between September 21 and October 10.”

The Estate

Château Lagrange is a Grand Cru Classé en 1855 located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, one of the most prestigious in the Médoc. Known for the precision and consistency of its wines, the estate relies on a homogeneous terroir, unchanged since the classification, made up of two gravel ridges on a clay-limestone subsoil. The vineyard extends over 107 hectares in a single block, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Petit Verdot. This structure gives the wines depth, freshness and the ageing capacity typical of great Saint-Julien wines. Since 1983, the estate has been driven by a demanding vision, combining Médoc tradition with innovation, in order to express each plot and each vintage with precision. Winemaking is carried out with precision, with controlled extraction to preserve the natural balance of the wines. Ageing is tailored to each cuvée to reveal finesse, aromatic complexity and structure. The style of Château Lagrange stands out for its elegance, precision and harmony, offering wines that are both powerful and refined. Les Fiefs de Lagrange, the estate’s second wine, benefits from the same exacting standards. Its blend, with a higher proportion of Merlot, gives it a more supple, accessible and immediate expression. It offers a generous and balanced approach to the Lagrange style, while retaining structure and potential for development.
