Critics’ scores and tasting notes
“A particularly accomplished effort, the 2025 Sociando-Mallet reveals a layered bouquet of mulberries, cassis, raspberry and spice. Medium- to full-bodied, it combines density with a controlled sense of power, built around a supple, well-defined core of fruit framed by a seamless tannic structure. The finish is long and gently ethereal, marked by notes of lead pencil and dark berries. While faithful to the estate’s identity, it shows greater precision and a more integrated profile than in recent vintages, a result of very low yields, sulfur-free vinification enhancing aromatic clarity and an extended maceration.”
The history of Château Sociando-Mallet began in 1969 when Jean Gautreau discovered this estate for sale. Located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, the estate overlooks the Gironde estuary. With passion and determination, Jean Gautreau renovated the estate with the aim of producing wines of the highest possible quality. Traditional soil cultivation on one of the finest gravel terroirs benefits its wines and gives them exceptional charm. Château Sociando-Mallet strives to produce unique wines with a complex structure, combining freshness and elegance.
